Having recognized the need for sustainable forestry practices and superior product alliance with consumer’s needs and concerns, Mason’s Mill & Lumber has been on the forefront of “Green” advocacy and promotion. We have made headway on several fronts to become the leading hardwood distributor in our market for sustained forest products as well as formaldehyde free products. Many commercial jobs now require LEED’s (Leadership in Energy and Efficiency Design) certification. FSC-COC products and formaldehyde free products are in compliance with LEED’s requirements.
We are proud to announce that we are now fully FSC-COC (Forest Stewardship Council – Chain of Custody) certified. We can supply lumber, sheet goods and millwork that require FSC-COC certification. Any distributor can buy FSC products, but cannot resell them as FSC certified unless their firm has been COC certified. FSC-COC products have become cost effective as their continued specification in projects increases in frequency.
In addition to our affiliation with the Forest Stewardship Council, we also distribute sawn lumber for SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) certified mills. This organization is based on more fiber source and timberland management than chain of custody management.
Mason’s Mill & Lumber is also the exclusive regional distributor for Green Ply plywood. Green Ply is a plantation grown, formaldehyde free veneer core plywood line. We are growing our Green Ply inventory and will have a full specie spectrum in the coming months in both ¼” and ¾” thicknesses. Green Ply is also offered in FSC-COC stamped panels on a special order basis. Green Ply is a high grade plywood made to match or surpass US standards. It is made using 7 ply construction, instead of multi-core construction like most Chinese produced panels, which lends to increased stability and performance in service. It is more cost effective than domestic panels, but meets or surpasses their quality.
Ask your sales representative for more information regarding all the things Mason’s Mill & Lumber is doing to stay on the forefront of the “Green” movement.
